The camera comes in the box, and recording starts and stops with your session — no buttons to remember. The overlay is drawn onto the video while you drive, so there’s no render step, no export, and no lining footage up with data afterwards. With a connection, your coach or the pit wall can watch it live.

How simple is it to set up?

Place the device, connect optional power and optional CAN/OBD2 via the provided harness, and you’re set.
GridCore can work as a standalone GPS lap timer and logger; every additional connection simply unlocks more channels.

How does it compare to AiM?

GridCore is designed to be much more modern, cloud-first with built-in 4G / LTE, and web-enabled, so you don't have to bother downloading sessions. The coaching app is web-based and cross-platform, making it easy to access useful insights even if you're not a racing engineer.

Also, GridCore comes with an included camera. No additional products are required.

How does it compare to RaceBox?

GridCore is not a direct RaceBox competitor. It is a complete motorsport stack rather than only a timing tool. GridCore can also use RaceBox as an auxiliary GPS over Bluetooth.

Which ECUs and cars does it support?

Any modern car: via OBD2
Advanced CAN data: Porsche, McLaren, BMW G-Series, Praga and more upon request
Any other CAN protocol: can be added in seconds with a .dbc file

What data does it log?

GridCore logs any data you want, from internal channels like GPS position, speed, accuracy, time, to IMU data and temperature, to vehicle data like throttle, brake pressure, coolant temperature, etc.

By default, internal channels are logged at 10 Hz, but raw CAN logs are preserved automatically so you get whatever data frequency the vehicle is transmitting.

Why such a wide TPMS support?

GridCore supports a wide variety of TPMS systems over CAN or Bluetooth: 16-channel infrared tread temperatures, internal and external sensors, and more.

The reason is that it started as a tire monitoring dashboard, inspired by the lack of flexibility of other telemetry and dash systems.

Does it need an ECU connection?

No. GPS timing, track detection, video and core logging work without an ECU. CAN, OBD2, Bluetooth and sensors are optional ways to add richer data.

Can I use this to stream live video?

Yes. With a connection — the built-in mobile data or a phone hotspot — the video streams to your GridCore account while you drive, overlay included, so a coach or the pit wall can watch from anywhere.

Everything is also recorded on the device, so a patchy signal never costs you the footage.

Does it record at night?

Yes. Nighttime recording is supported, so evening track days and night stints get the same video and overlay as a daytime session.

Do I need an internet connection or a phone hotspot?

No. The device works completely standalone. Hotspot or 4G / LTE only unlocks cloud sync, remote pit wall access, and live review options. Everything important is recorded locally.

What happens to my data?

Sessions are logged automatically in open MoTeC .ld plus raw formats. They're automatically cloud-synced so you can review them from any device via GridCore Analyze, or open them in MoTeC i2 Pro, laplift.app or similar tools.
